FenCon XXI Maker Programming

Welcome back to TheLab.ms, Everyone's Makerspace!

Visit them in Manchester 2.

Hours:

Friday: 2PM - 6 PM

Saturday: Noon - 6 PM

Sunday: 11 AM - 3 PM

This year TheLab.ms is here to help you make NFC tags!

NFC stands for Near Field Communication, and this is the technology that enables keyless entry cards, contactless payment systems, home automation systems, and many other uses. You can use it to open a frequently-visited web page on your phone, or share that page with others.

It all fits in a little 3D printed case that you can put on your keychain. They'll even personalize it for you with their galvo laser and show you how that's done as well. You'll walk away with a digital business card, or other useful tag that you can program yourself with a free telephone app! These tags can be written many times so you can easily swap out contact info or other data.

These tags are free, but a donation to help cover costs would be appreciated.

To learn more about tags, including links to software to get you started, visit this page on their wiki.

Please check out their website for all the cool things they're doing throughout the year, and consider becoming a member.

There are other workshops of interest to makers in the Costuming track.
