Party like its 2008: Make a note in your social calendars because FenCon is ready to party at conventions all over Texas and Oklahoma. First up is ConDFW, February 22-24 in Richardson, Texas, where we'll throw not just one but two parties. We'll have info tables at All-Con, CAPE, and other events then the parties continue at SoonerCon, ApolloCon, Conestoga, Armadillocon, and more! Check back frequently for updates and party reports. And the (filk) winners are...: The Pegasus Awards, the premier awards for filk music, were awarded recently at the Ohio Valley Filk Festival. The winners included Rob Balder and FenCon IV Music GoH Tom Smith for Best Filk Song plus a tie between Seanan McGuire and Dr. Mary Crowell (a member of FenCon V Music GoH Three Weird Sisters) for Best Performer. And the (fantasy) winners are...: The World Fantasy Awards for works published in 2006 were announced on November 4th at the World Fantasy Convention in Saratoga Springs, New York. Life Achievement awards went to Betty Ballantine and Diana Wynne Jones. Best Novel went to Soldier of Sidon by Gene Wolfe. Congratulations to the winners of our 2007 Short Story Contest! Our readers and judges sorted through the record number of entries and, after much deliberation, struggled to pick just three favorites. First Place and publication in our 2007 souvenir program book went to "Spirit of Springtime" by Dal Jeanis. Second Place went to "Letters to Miss Goodmanners" by Peggy Nuckles and "Good Morning Sunshine" by Becky Huffman took Third Place. We thank all of the writers who participated for making our third annual contest such a success. We encourage everybody to enter our 2008 contest.
