Thank you, Houston: The FenCon team is back from one of our favorite Texas conventions, ApolloCon. It was fun hanging out with Allen Steele, Margaret Middleton, our good friend Selina Rosen, and all the fen down Houston way. And special thanks to all the folks who stopped by our patent-pending semi-legendary room party for snacks, beverages, good people, and lots of fun. We hope to see y'all again in October at FenCon. Join us: Want to be a part of our celebration of 50 years of science fiction conventions in Texas? Do you love science fiction, music, science, fandom, parties, or books? Then you need to get a membership for FenCon V. It's a full weekend of fun and fandom, too! Get all the details on our membership page. FenCon memberships make excellent gifts! Get a room: Our room block for FenCon V in the Crowne Plaza is now open. Rooms are available at the great FenCon rate of just $88 per night for one to four guests in a king or double standard room and just $108 per night for one to four guests in an executive suite. Call 972-980-8877 or reserve online and use code FCN (new for 2008!) when making your reservation. Ah, the atmosphere: The hotel has informed us that they will be 100% smoke-free, including in guest rooms, by the time of FenCon V. FenCon is of the fen, by the fen, and for the fen. Attention Writers: FenCon's popular writers workshop hosted by Jay Lake has only a few spots remaining. We'll take your membership forms and payments online or by mail. This always sells out quickly and with Jay Lake as instructor this year will be no exception. It's an honor just to be nominated: Our 2008 writers workshop instructor, Jay Lake, is a finalist for the 2007 Sidewise Award for Best Long-Form Alternate History. Good luck to Jay (and all the other finalists). The winners will be announced in Denver at the 2008 World Science Fiction Convention. There are just Show your stuff: Check out our art show page for details on how you can participate in our fourth annual art show and auction. Hurry, space is going quickly.
